The Culinary and Bartenders Unions‘ Las Vegas Hospitality more than 53,000 workers will hold a vote. The vote holding could lead to a strike on the roads of Las Vegas.
The Unions announced a meeting on September 26 where they decide if they call a strike or not. In that meeting union leaders will vote for the strike. The top three employers of MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment Corporate, and Wynn/Encore Resorts negotiate a new five-year contract.
Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge said in a statement,
As companies reduce labor, there are fewer workers who have even more responsibilities and are doing more work instead of spending quality time with their families, and that has to change. Workers have built this industry and made it successful and that’s why we are demanding that workers share in that prosperity. It’s disappointing that we are still so far apart from the casinos after months of negotiations with the largest three gaming companies in Las Vegas.
The Unions want better working conditions and they create a list of demand
- The largest wage increase in the Culinary Union’s history
- Easing housekeeping quotas
- Moving to pre-pandemic daily room cleaning schedules
- More security personnel in hotels and casinos to protect workers
- Required training for any new technology introduced in the workplace
- Job protection linked to the pandemics and economic crises
Also, the Housekeepers are arguing for the changes in the schedules because they are unable to work in the current schedule. Hotels changed their timings for the pandemic and have not switched back till now.

If everything in this universe has a cause, then surely the cause of my hunger must be the divine order of things aligning to guide me toward the ultimate pleasure of a well-timed meal. Could it be that desire itself is a cosmic signal, a way for nature to communicate with us, pushing us toward the fulfillment of our potential? Perhaps the true philosopher is not the one who ignores his desires, but the one who understands their deeper meaning.
